Notes: Teams go head to head with the objective of having the most players and target spots remaining. Teams will be separated by a “safe zone” that cannot be shot from. Games will end when all of a team’s players have been eliminated or time runs out. Each team has a “5-Sport Knockout Target” that can be shot at by the opposing team. Players are eliminated if they are hit with an arrow or if their arrow is caught mid-air by an opposing player. A player can return to the game if their teammate catches an arrow mid-air or knocks out one of the opposing team’s 5-spot targets.

Notes: Games will feature two timed halves and each team will have one 30 second timeout per half. Time is stopped during halftime, for injuries and during timeouts. Substitutions can be made during stoppage of play. The ball is placed at center field to begin and players begin 10 to 20 feet away. Players cannot hold or run with the ball in hand. Players will not be allowed to be goalkeepers. When the ball goes out of bounds, referees will throw ball back in play. No offsides will be called.

 

Disc Golf

Location: Art Van Sports Complex

Notes: Each team member will throw a disc from each of the designated locations toward a Disc Golf basket. Players will get 10 points for each disc they get in the basket and 5 points if the disc lands in the landing zone around the basket. The team with the most amount of points after the throws will be awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Teams will use provided discs.

Football Accuracy Toss

Location: Art Van Sports Complex

Notes: All team members will have a total of five (5) throws at the target(s) of his or her choice and score points for successfully hitting the target. Targets will be worth different points based on difficulty. All five (5) point totals will be combined to produce a total team score to award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place within each division. In the event of a tie, tied teams will both be awarded the applicable finish and points. A NCAA regulation sized football will be used.

Kickball Tournament

Location: Art Van Sports Complex
Date: September 8, 2018
Roster: 8-14 participants; co-ed event
Minimum 8 participants.
Tournament bracket with time of first game will be released after registration deadline. Game times after the first game will be dependent on winning.

25 points - Fielding a team

Notes: Games will conclude after 5 innings or once the time limit expires. While fielding, each team must have at least eight (8) and no more than ten (10) players, which must include one catcher. The kicking team will assign a pitcher who will pitch to their own team. The tournament will follow WAKA rules with tournament modifications. 

Obstacle Course Relay

Location: Art Van Sports Complex

Roster Size: 4 participants: 2 females and 2 males

Points Available:
100 points - 1st place
75 points - 2nd place
50 points - 3rd place

Notes: Each participant must complete the entire Course. Scoring and determination of finish will be based on the final elapsed time for all members on the relay time. If a participant bypasses an obstacle, it will result in disqualification of their whole team. The fastest three teams in each division will receive points.

Parallel Parking

Location: Art Van Sports Complex

Roster: 2 participants; co-ed

Points Available:
50 points - Successfully parking "larger" vehicle
25 points - Successfully parking "smaller vehicle

Notes: Participants will have the opportunity to park a provided “smaller” vehicle OR “larger” vehicle. To be deemed successful, the vehicle must be parked inside the designated 23’ x 7’ parking lines using no more than three gear changes and within the three-minute time limit. Participants will be disqualified for: hitting a cone, touching a boundary line with the tire, exceeding the permitted gear changes, exceeding the time limit, parking further than two feet from the passenger side boundary line. Each participant must show a valid driver’s license. 

Tailgating Competition

Location: Art Van Sports Complex
Date: September 8, 2018

100 points - 1st place
75 points - 2nd place
50 points - 3rd place
25 points - participating

Event Information: Team members are encouraged to show off their company pride and creatively decorate their tailgating area. Each team will be given a 10’ x 10’ area designed for tailgating. Electricity will not be provided. Teams may bring in ice chests and coolers with non-alcoholic drinks and refreshments. Alcoholic drinks will be available for sale near the tailgating area

Tug of War

Location: Art Van Sports Complex
Date: September 8, 2018
Time: 1:00-2:00 pm*
Roster Size: 6-10 participants; maximum of 6 players can tug at one time. Three (3) male, three (3) female. Optional 4 alternates.

Points Available:
100 points - 1st place
75 points - 2nd place
50 points - 3rd place
25 points - Fielding a team

Notes:  All tugs will be conducted on a natural grass surface. Gloves and belts are optional. No spikes, cleats, studs or other medal fittings will be permitted, including soccer or football shoes with rubber cleats. No sticky substances or other substances may be used on hands or gloves to gain an advantage. Males and females must alternate on the rope. The winning team must pull the losing team 5 yards for the rope marker to cross the boundary line. Participants must stay on their feet and not sit, kneel, or lie down. The rope must not wrap around any participant. Winning teams will continue to advance in their division until the overall winner has been declared in each division.

Charity Drives

DEADLINE TO SET UP BLOOD DRIVE IS AUGUST 1

Help save 3 lives by donating blood. Businesses can organize their own blood drive, attend a community event or schedule blood donation at a Michigan Blood location. Anyone can donate on behalf of a company regardless if they are an employee or spouse of an employee. Businesses can hold multiple blood drives and employees can donate more than once (once every 8 weeks).

In partnership with Heart of West Michigan United Way, we are raising money to help reduce poverty in Kent County. All gifts made to Heart of West Michigan United Way will stay here in Kent County and will be invested into programs that help increase family stability, educate youth, and build financial security for individuals and families. Every $375 raised can provide rental assistance or intervention to keep a family in their home. Every $780 raised can provide job skills development to a person who is out of work or underemployed. Every $1,000 raised can provide access to math and science camps for middle-school youth. Anyone can donate on behalf of a company regardless if they are an employee or spouse of an employee.

Clothing Drive

Donate gently used clothes and help locals in low to moderate income levels in West Michigan. Clothes can be dropped off onsite the day of competition. 1 point per item donated. 100 points max per team.

Food Drive

Help us gather food to donate to local food pantries by bringing in non-perishable food items. Food can be dropped off the day of competition at the Art Van Sports Complex. 1 point per item donated. 100 points max per team.

Uniform Contest

Event Information: Team will be awarded for the best team shirt/uniform in each division. Send a digital photo of your team’s uniform to info@michigansportsalliance.org by September 4. Be sure that your team is wearing their uniform at the West Michigan Corporate Challenge on Saturday, September 8th! 

Kickoff to Corporate Wellness

Location: Rosa Parks Circle
Date: September 5, 2018
Time: 12:00 pm (noon)
Roster: No limit.

Points Available:
Earn 5 points per participant. Max of 100 points.

Notes: The official kickoff of the West Michigan Corporate Challenge invites teams to get active during lunch. Participants will check in to do 30 minutes of physical activity. Participants have the option of taking a walk around downtown Grand Rapids or staying in Rosa Parks circle for 30 minutes of programming. 

Golf Scramble

Location: Stonewater Country Club

Notes: Each team member hits from the tee and the best shot of the four will be the starting point for all team members’ second shot. Teams will continue to hit from the best of the four shots until the hole is completed. Teams will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place points based on the lowest score.
